Snap Lens

Challenge
Explore the amazing new functionality of Lens Studio and create an engaging experience worthy of being shared. Reach out to a younger audience and make the snapchat AR filter a trendy interactive experience.
My Process
I first started off with basic sketches of what I wanted my character to look like and how the lens would be applied to my face as shown.

I then went into cinema 4D and modeled my little mushroom character and gave him some simple animation to get rid of this static feel I had to the lens before.

Once imported I experimented with different filters and added glasses and clothes through lens studio. Once everything was looking the way I wanted it to I assigned behavior scripts to my objects so they would be triggered by certain actions such as opening your mouth or tapping the screen.

What was accomplished in the final version
The filter is now fully functional on snap lens and has officially come to life. Many changes were also made during the process such as the option to add clothes to yourself by tapping on the screen. Overall the reviews on the filter are very positive and I'm excited to see how it grows as its own snapchat AR filter.

NFT

Challenge and Concept
Create and mint an NFT that targets art lovers, collectors and investors familiar with the latest technology.

My overall concept is surrounded around the idea of collecting trains. Each NFT in my collection will have a different train with a different environment and different prices based off of rarity. These trains can also be turned into infinite objects that you can collect and connect to each other to make your very own line of trains.
Process
I wanted to make an NFT that combined 2D and 3D elements to give a painterly look to everything.

In order to achieve this I created flat textures in cinema 4D and kept my shadows lighter so none of the objects in the scene stuck out as 3D. The grass was painted in photoshop and loaded onto several planes that were scattered throughout the scene using a randomizer.

Once everything was set up in cinema 4D I then went into After Effects and painted the clouds in the background to keep the 2D feel to everything. The reflection of the water was also achieved by flipping the animation around to give the illusion of the train going across flat water.

How to Mint an NFT
In order to mint your NFT you first have to create an animation or an image that you want to put onto open sea. When creating your account you first have to make your wallet. The wallet that I chose was Meta Mask just because I'm already familiar with that wallet. Through the Meta Mask wallet you can buy Ethereum and use that to publish your NFT and make profit.
Once you have created your wallet you are good to go and can start to upload your NFT. Before you publish it know the price is up to you and the way you sell it. You can sell the NFT up front or you can have an auction that lasts for a certain amount of days. Minting an NFT is always a great feeling and its very exciting to see who wants to but your art.

YOU DEW YOU

Challenge and Concept
The challenge of this project was to create a five-second advertisement for mountain dew that reaches out to their general audience while trying to branch out to a female audience. Mountain Dew wanted to show individuality and the phrase "You Dew You" had to be incorporated into the end of the animation.
My Process
I wanted the design to be inspired by old magazines to give a nostalgic feel so I cut out things from paintings and images to show this college that creates an environment. In order to reach out to the female audience, I wanted to make the design very gender neutral and focus on relating to the person watching the quick ad.

I designed my frames in photoshop and animated them in after effects by making my 2D objects 3D. I wanted to make these objects 3D so it would look like a pop-up story to drive home that magazine kind of look.

The skater that is used to transition frames was rotoscoped in photoshop and transferred into after effects and masked over a city to reach urban audiences.

How It Turned Out
The overall animation turned out exactly how I pictured but changed in a stylistic sense into something less rough and into something a lot cleaner. I wanted to give it a more papery texture but ended up going for something crisp and I'm glad that's the direction it went.

Haze

Challenge and Concept
I decided to revise one of my old 3D models and bring it to life with better lighting and textures. I want to add more of an environment and make this space feel believable. My previous variation was very dull but with the knowledge I have now I was able to create something much more lively.
Lighting
The first pass throughout this personal project was lighting. The lighting before was very muddy and had little t no glow. The lights also needed to be brighter and I wanted to show off my reflections a lot more in order to give a damp dirty city feel.

Atmosphere
The previous project had no sense of atmosphere and had this very sharp horizon line that wasn't doing anything for my model. I decided to add a city in the background so I could really sell that this is happening in its own world. There were also touchups with lighting and some added textures to a couple of buildings.

Texture
With the next pass, I really wanted to get down some of my textures in there and really try to make this city look dirty and gritty. There were also some added fog and characters in the windows to give the scene a good sense of life to this cyberpunk gas station.

Establishing shots and cleaning up
The next pass was an overall clean-up of the scene and me figuring out what textures really work and which ones don't. I realized this stone wall wasn't working so I went with a more gritty metal texture that really brought a lot of depth into the foreground scene.

Final Render

Apple Opener

Concept
This concept revolves around a dramatic effect to show off the Apple products using harsh lighting and shape language. Apple does a very good job of relating each product to each other involving circles so the consistent shape throughout the video seen is a circle.
Early Drafts
The first things to get down when making something primarily 3D are the animatic and clay models. At this stage the timing was laid out and some models were produced early on in the process.

Animation and texturing
At this stage, some texturing was applied to objects and a full animation was produced. Lighting was laid out in the animation just to give the client a better look at the tone of the animation and design.

Final Pass
All renders are now completed and the only thing left to do is composite the shots and tweak animation.
